About

About

Studio Sasa Zamani is a newly found idependent creative network oriented around the philosophy of time and responsibility.

We draw from the work of theologian and philosopher John Mbiti, who describes African conceptions of time as a continuum where the Sasa (the immediate present and recent past) constantly flows into the Zamani (the vast, accumulated past that holds memory, ancestry, and history). According to this view, time is not a linear march toward the future. Rather, it is a layered and living presence, where the past remains active and the future will be shaped by the present moment. We acknowledge those whose contributions are too often overlooked, and we hold stories, histories, and materials with respect. Time is our foundation. that exists to honor what came before and to carry it forward with integrity.

Our approach is in conversation with Afro-Brazilian poet and professor Leda Maria Martins’s reflection that “performances that adopt the perspective of spiral time establish a dialogue between different temporalities, connecting the past, present, and future. This temporal interaction can generate new perspectives, questions, and ways of understanding human experience.”

We approach the future not as speculation but as a consequence of our actions today.

This method shapes our creative process - collaboration are given the depth and time they deserve, favoring feeling and meaning over trends and mere transactions.

Our mission is to weave research and creativity into Visual Identities, Cultural Programs, Photography, and Editorial work—rooted in visual literacy and cultural sensitivity. As legacy cultivators, we honor the ancestors of Zamani, engage boldly in the Sasa of the present, and co-create futures where time spirals—connecting what was, what is, and what is yet to come.

We work with a decentralized, international, and diverse network of interdisciplinary collaborators. Each team is curated in response to the unique visions of the client and the brief, allowing for flexibility, relevance, and depth.

Our process is highly collaborative - especially with creative clients - ensuring that every vision is not only heard but expanded.

Every project closes with a retrospective: a dedicated moment of reflection to determine what we carry forward and what we respectfully leave behind.
